Dogs, that’s right. Everyone should have one or so. If they’re dog lovers, of course. Some people aren’t animal people, and honestly I don’t understand that. Although there are people who don’t want kids, and I understand that too.
Dogs are so much better!
This is why my family has 5. We have the old guy Eddie; he’s a Pom-Chi who’s 10 this year. Next we have Chuy, he’s a Doberman/Shar-Pei/Rhodesian Ridgeback who’s 8, he’s my dude, for sure. Then we have Perla, a ChiWeenie who is 7 and hates most everyone except for Ethan. At almost two, Nola is one of the babies of the family; she’s American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bulldog, and German Shepherd. Lastly we have Sydney who just joined us in October of last year. She’s German and Australian Shepherd and pretty close to 2 years old. She had been hit by a car in Houston, Tx and rescued from a ditch by Zoo’s Rezcue. Texas A&M repaired both of her back legs and through a friend of Rhonda’s we contacted them and adopted her.
Our house is hairy, dusty, and noisy most days. It’s also loving and snuggly. Every time we come home, the pack is happy as heck to see us. We have a wireless security system, no one in their right mind will break into this house. Any time someone is unhappy, there’s 5 warm, loving bodies ready to sit with them, to listen to them. To just be there for support and snuggles.
Sure, it’s tough to take out of town vacations with the entire family, but I don’t think any one of us would trade our pack for the world. There’s never a dull moment, that’s for sure! If you’re ever inclined to search out a pup, please look to a rescue. Most of the people who run them do so at their own expense, and the expenses keep on coming. Overall, people who run them do it because they love the pups and want to see them in loving homes.
Below are my two favorite rescues, and if you need a loyal buddy, they’re the ones to call!
